Swiss family happy to be stranded in Samoa

SAVAI’I, SAMOA – 24 JUNE 2020: A Swiss family is enjoying the time of their lives in Samoa despite the COVID-19  state of emergency and lockdown.

Marco and Andrea Rocchi and their three children arrived in Samoa in March and are now staying at the Amoa Resort at Siufaga, after travelling around Upolu and Savaii islands.

The Rocchi family are into Online Marketing and have planned to travel around the South Pacific for one year, but the COVID-19 interrupted their plans. They have already visited Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Tonga, Fiji and now Samoa.

“We are happy to be stranded here because it’s such a nice place to be,” said Andrea.

They rated Samoa as the “best country” they have visited so far.

“It’s a beautiful country with so much to see and do and attractions to visit,” said Marco.

Since been here, they have visited Lalomanu Beach, Tafua Beach Fales, Piula Cave, To-Sua Trench, Mt. Matavanu , three caves including the Dwarves Cave, the Siapo demonstration site at Vailoa, Palauli and Falealupo Beach Fales.

“There are new things to see every day,” said Marco.

Experience sleeping at open house

For the first time in their lives, they slept in an open house.

“I was not sure if we would be comfortable there, but at Falealupo Beach Fales, everything was possible,” said Andrea.

The family booked to stay at Falealupo for 4 days but ended up staying for two weeks.

They also enjoyed attending Mother’s Days’ at church and among the friendly people of Falealupo.

The family wants to stay for another month before returning to Europe through New Zealand.

Samoa has a lot to offer

Marco has a message to European tourists to come and experience true Polynesia life in Samoa.

“It’s a beautiful country and the Pacific is far away from Europe. While Fiji is well known in Europe, I would recommend them to come to Samoa because it’s easy to travel around and the people are so friendly. There is so much hospitality and it’s the best place to be stranded at,” said Marco.
