United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Samoa presents credentials

The United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Samoa Mr. Abdullah Al Subousi receives a gift from the Head of State, Afioga Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II after the presentation of credentials this morning.

APIA, SAMOA – 25 APRIL 2023: His Highness the Head of State, Afioga Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Samoa, His Excellency, Mr. Abdullah Al Subousi at a credentials presentation ceremony this morning.

Samoa and the United Arab Emirates established diplomatic relations on 10 May 2010, and both countries have continued to maintain friendly cordial relations rooted in mutual respect and trust.

In their remarks, the Head of State and the Ambassador of UAE said both countries “will continue to work alongside each other in the bilateral and multilateral stages to achieve their priorities, particularly in areas of climate change, food security and the sustainable development of our economies for the prosperity of our peoples and countries.”

The United Arab Emirates will be hosting the COP28 in Dubai from 30 November to 12 December, that provides an opportunity to actively participate in the on-going UNFCCC COP meetings reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to collaborate in combating the devastating effects of climate change.

His Excellency Abdullah Al Subousi holds a Double Major in Political Science and International Relations with a minor in History. He is a career diplomat with over 20 years of service having held various positions at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Chief of the European Union desk and was involved in the European Union Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) free trade negotiations.

He also served as the Director of the American and Pacific Affairs Section holding the title of Ambassador at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to his current assignment, H.E Al Subousi served as Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in Los Angeles covering the West Coast.

Before this, he served two diplomatic tours in the UAE Embassy in Washington DC as Director of Congressional Affairs before being appointed Consul and Head of Legal Affairs and ended his tour of duty as Head of the Political Section.

The Ambassador is accredited to Samoa with residence in Canberra, Australia.
