NUS Students Receive Rotary Club Scholarship Awards for Semester 2, 2023

Apia, Samoa – 23 August, 2023. The Rotary Club has once again awarded partial scholarships worth $15,000 to fifteen (15) National University of Samoa (NUS) students for Semester 2, 2023. These students were also recipients of the scholarship in Semester 1 2023 and all achieved very good results.

The scholarship award ceremony was held yesterday evening at Roko’s Restaurant. In attendance was Peseta Dr. Desmond Lee Hang, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic & TVET, President of the Rotary Club, Titilia Bese-Tuileva, students, parents and members of the club.

Peseta Dr. Lee Hang expressed his gratitude to the Rotary Club for their generous donation and continuous support of NUS students and presented the gifts to the successful scholarship recipients. He also encouraged the successful recipients to make use of the opportunity to achieve academic excellence.

Titilia Bese-Tuileva, stated that the Rotary Club has been providing scholarships to NUS since 2011. Initially, only three awardees received full scholarships, but was later changed to partial scholarships to help more students in need.

The scholarship is to assist students with their tuition fees for a year and amounts to $15,000.00 for fifteen (15) students per semester. The award is exclusively for students in the Foundation and TVET programmes.

Dr. Peseta congratulated the scholarship recipients on their success and commended the Rotary Club’s partnership with NUS for being instrumental in empowering NUS students to fulfill their academic dreams.
