Dead body of overseas pilot found in hotel room

Apia, Samoa – 08 January 2024: Police are investigating the death of a Virgin Australia airline pilot whose body was found inside a hotel room in Apia in the weekend.

Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo said no foul play is suspected and they are continuing their investigation.

Police say the Virgin Australia arrived in Samoa last Saturday and its crew stayed at the Tanoa Hotel.

Last week, police confirmed the separate death of a New Zealand sea captain on a vessel returning from a fishing trip.

The Coroner will decide if both bodies will go through post mortems to determine the cause of death.
