Apia, SAMOA – 02 April 2026: The Samoa Law Society (SLS) is continuing its investigation into fraud allegations against senior lawyer Leiataualesā Jerry Brunt.
Leiataualesā has since been suspended from practising law for 6 months.
The Law Society’s decision was based on a complaint that was handled by the Society’s Complaints and Investigation Committee that was tasked with conducting a thorough inquiry and determining the appropriate course of action in accordance with the Legal Profession Disciplinary Procedures.
The Law Society did not give details of the complaint but sources said the complainant is one of Leiataualesā’s clients.
The Law Society’s decision to suspend Leiataualesā was made on 24 February and came into effect on 11 March 2026.
According to the Law Society, the suspension is an interim measure and does not constitute a disciplinary finding or admission of guilt.
The Law Society has appointed Faimalōmatumua Meleisea Mathew Lemisio to oversee and manage the operations of Brunt Law Firm during the suspension period, and legal professionals and clients involved in ongoing matters with Leiataualesā have been advised to liaise with Faimalōmatumua for continuity of service.
