Apia, SAMOA – 25 August 2026 – Police have warned members of the public against damaging government-owned facilities at Malaefatu Park, saying those responsible could face legal action.
The warning follows reports of significant damage to some Fale Samoa at Malaefatu Park, including the deliberate breaking of benches and other parts of the fale Samoa.
The facilities are provided for public use, giving community members a safe and comfortable place to rest, relax and spend time with their families.
Police said it takes the reported damage seriously and will work closely with relevant authorities and communities to identify those responsible.
Anyone found deliberately damaging or destroying government property will be investigated and face legal action under the applicable laws of Samoa.
Police are also urging the public to take responsibility for protecting the facilities, stressing that they are provided for the benefit of everyone.
Police said the continued availability of the facilities depends on the collective responsibility of the community to protect and maintain them.
