As the world slowly recovers and gets used to living with the pandemic, Melbourne has held the title for the longest lockdown in the world.

It gave rise to the theme “Rise with Faith, Tula’i ma le Fa’atuatua” for the Miss Samoa Victoria’s return to hosting their annual pageant.

The Miss Samoa Victoria’s winner will be competing in this year’s Miss Samoa Pageant in Samoa as part of the upcoming Teuila Festival in September.

Six young Samoan tama’ita’i from the state of Victoria are vying for the Miss Samoa Victoria crown on the 13 of August in Melbourne, where the winner will then travel with the committee to Samoa.

Each contestant is excited and looking forward to learning, showcasing, and celebrating their Samoan culture throughout this pageant.

This year’s contestants:

  1. Hazel Elizabeth Luisa Fosio, 18, Fusi, Safotulafai & Lalovaea.
  2. Loia Tuafafo, 22, Afega & Aopo.
  3. Dorothy Maepu, 22, Nofoali’i & Fagalii.
  4. Annie Milford, 24, Pata Falelatai, Auala & Sataua
  5. Chantelle Treasure Tamasese, 20, Leauvaa
  6. Olivia Grace Unasa Siaosi, 20, Solosolo, Manunu, Siufaga Faga & Safune.

Director of Miss Samoa Victoria, Tamara Puni says: “We are always very grateful for the support that our platform receives from our community, the line up this year is very strong and each contestant has something special, we will be very proud of any of our contestants to be our winner and look forward to being back in Samoa again.”

Miss Samoa Victoria is looking forward to showcasing the “Beautiful Samoa” campaign slogan in their wider community in Australia and will be working with Victoria based designers, hair and make-up artists, photographers, videographers and cultural guidance from the elders and cultural groups in Victoria to ensure that it is a community led effort.
