About Tautua

The Tautua Human Development for All Program prioritizes five interconnected pillars of human development: Education, Health, Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), and Social Protection. Guided by the Government of Samoa, Tautua provides opportunity to create transformative change in human development by addressing complex development needs though multi-sectoral, innovative approaches that identify and focus on the underlying issues. Simultaneously, Tautua intends to be able to respond to emergency, short-term needs, build capacity and through research, monitoring and evaluation apply lessons learned and evidence-based decision making to continuously improve delivery.

Scope of Services

The scope of the work will focus on 30 teachers from the 10 colleges in Upolu.

The language-literacy trainer will work in collaboration with the ACEO TDAD (MESC) and staff on pre-training and post-training visits, development of training package, delivery of the workshops and packaging a submission to SQA for recognition of the training as a non-formal learning activity.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualification

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or relevant subject discipline.

Experience

  • Extensive relevant professional experience in in-service teacher training and teacher professional development at secondary level or teaching adults (at least 10 years or more of teaching literacy experience)
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English and Gagana Samoa
  • Strong knowledge of the Samoan Education System
  • Strong coordination, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders at all levels
