Samoan Music Legends Give to the Campus of Hope

Apia, Samoa – 8 June 2026 – World renowned Samoan musician, Faanana Jerome Grey and his sons, Taumata Grey and Vaea Aitonu Grey, today presented four high-quality ukuleles to the children of the Campus of Hope.

The composer of Samoa’s second anthem, We Are Samoa and hits such as Eleni, Naunau ile Ufi and old timers Down the Vaisigano and Olaga o Samoa, the donation is intended to support the Campus of Hope Mini Band, encouraging children to develop their musical talents, creativity, and confidence through the gift of music.

The US based Faanana Jerome Grey and his sons are currently in Samoa as featured performers at the 64th Independence Celebrations Music Night and at the invitation of the Prime Minister and the Government of Samoa.

Despite their busy schedule of performances and engagements, the family took time to visit the SVSG Office and make the contribution to the children.

The generous donation was also made in partnership with the Pasifika Music Academy, reflecting their shared commitment to nurturing young talent and creating opportunities for children through music and the arts.

Receiving the donation on behalf of SVSG, Tafatoa Sam Fruean expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Grey family and the Pasifika Music Academy.

“On behalf of our President, Mrs. Siliniu Lina Chang, the SVSG Management, staff, and especially the children of the Campus of Hope, we extend our sincere gratitude to Faanana Jerome Grey, Taumata Grey, Vaea Aitonu Grey, and the Pasifika Music Academy for this wonderful gift. Music has a unique way of bringing hope, healing, and joy to children, and these ukuleles will help inspire our young people to dream, learn, and express themselves through song.”

The children were delighted to receive the instruments and look forward to incorporating them into their musical activities and performances.

SVSG acknowledges the Grey family’s generosity and commitment to giving back to the community, particularly to vulnerable children who call the Campus of Hope their home. Their contribution serves as a powerful reminder of how music can unite people, uplift spirits, and create lasting positive change.
