Apia, SAMOA – 06 July 2026 – Samoa Police have issued a public statement warning the public about making false and defamatory posts on social media. The warning comes after a post claiming a Member of Parliament was caught in a police raid where marijuana and methamphetamine were found in his house.
“We categorically state that these allegations are false and baseless,” said the police statement.
“No such raid has taken place and no Member of Parliament has been involved in the alleged incident.
“The Samoa Police reminds the public that spreading false information and defamatory statements online is illegal under the law. Such actions not only damage reputations but also undermine public trust and social harmony.
“We urge all members of the public to use social media responsibly by verifying information before sharing it. Upholding the truth, respecting the law and relying on official sources are essential to maintaining public trust, peace and unity in Samoa.
“We call upon the people of Samoa t stand together in support of land and order, ensuring a peaceful and respectful society for all,” the police stated.
